deepfriedrice.com Experiences Growing Pains
Massive growth and amazingly enthusiastic and talented writers cause us to take a step back and reflect on where deepfriedrice.com is and where we're going.
Thank you writers, fellow readers, family, friends and everyone in between for helping build deepfriedrice.com and to get us to where we are today.

This weekend I took some time to reflect on how far we've come and how quickly: from an idea to what was supposed to be a beta test to an explosion of enthusiastic contributors, readers and a site that's really taking off.

We've hit milestone after milestone in a variety of areas. For starters, I could not be happier with the group of writers on board. I read every article and my friends, coworkers and random craig's list strangers write to me with their thoughts and comments, and it's almost universally genuine excitement at what we're building and the types of pieces we're publishing.

Related to that, we're thrilled with the expansion of the site into various sections. We started with a few general sections hoping to expand slowly, and I was blown away at how quickly quality writers were drawn to different sections and how each area of deepfriedrice.com (as well as individual writers) has developed its own tone and voice.

No matter what metric we use - traffic, writers, sections, number of articles, quality of stories - we're above and beyond our expectations and I personally am absolutely thrilled to be a part of this.

With our fantastic growth however we've experienced some growing pains, and after wrestling with myself for some time, I finally decided this weekend that we've got to step back, work on a few things, and add some new features that I've been promising writers for a while now - features that I believe will make deepfriedrice.com even better for readers.

We're not going anywhere - and deepfriedrice.com will remain up while we work through it. We'll return to regularly publishing articles as soon as possible - with any luck before the end of the year.

I appreciate all of your support and understanding as we complete these upgrades.

Happy Holidays =)
