| Send Matt Millen Packing |

| How much longer do Detroit Lion fans have to endure before Ford fires Millen. |
Fire Matt Millen was heard all day long throughout downtown Detroit and elsewhere on Sunday. From living rooms to sports bars the main topic was Matt Millen. The fans of Detroit are so fed up with losing they organized a march to the stadium where the Lions were playing the Bengals to show their displeasure with what was going on with the Lions. Matt Millen was hired about five years ago and has gone through several coaches and the Lions are still one of the worst teams in the NFL. In fact the Lions record over the last five years is 20-58. Those numbers would normally get your butt fired, but not Matt Millen. Matt actually recently got a contract extension. Go figure that.
So, how did it go so wrong for Matt Millen in Detroit. Matt was well liked when he first was hired as general Manager by the lions. Then the wheels started to come off when he drafted players. He has four first round picks that basically have been busts. one quarterback and two wide receivers. Now don’t get me wrong all these players were highly rated, except maybe one and for some reason these players just haven’t worked out for the Lions. In Millen's defense he wasn't the only person making bad draft day decisions, as some of that blame should be passed around to the coaches and the front office which includes the owner.
The Detroit Lions franchise has had a rich history and their fan base is very loyal to the team. Now the same fan base that was so loyal is eroding away at the seams. Ever since All-Pro Barry Sanders retired the Lions have been in free fall. So, what is the solution to get the Lions back on the right track? First, they need to fire Matt Millen. I like Matt and everything but he's no General Manager. Matt came into the job with no experience except playing football in the National Football League.
A general manager in the NFL isn't an on job training program. You must be able to judge talent every day and get the pieces to fit together to make your team a contender. Apparently <att hasn't put to many puzzles together in his life. If he has, he 's grabbed the wrong pieces to this puzzle. William Clay Ford needs to hire football people who know what there doing so this franchise can get on the right track. If not they will forever be a team that no one wants to play for. |
