Mr. King Kong Returns to Hollywood
King Kong and the 63rd Golden Globe Award Ceremony.
Just like Debra Winger, King Kong’s return to the big screen has been the buzz around Tinseltown for weeks now as director Peter Jackson (“Lord Of The Rings”), received the highest number of bets on becoming THE guy to whip box office theatre sales back into shape with his brilliantly clever remake of “King Kong.”

With studios highly concerned over the box office slump, director Merian C. Cooper & Ernest B. Schoedsack’s 1933 actor, King Kong, has been sought out to return to his acting roots once again.

Although Jackson’s Kong has been accused of looking rough around the edges in his old age, us AOL users who got a shot of the before and after picture on our “Welcome screens” yesterday would have to disagree. King Kong has got it goin’ on with big scary teeth, thick dark rustled hair and a growl that freaks even the toughest of the tough out!

The thing is however, that once you get to know him, he’s even cuter and cuddlier than ever, making this action packed, kick-ass film a tearjerker as well. Even David Letterman acknowledged the ape’s fast-rising popularity on the Late Show by informing us that Kong is considering running for governor of California. Bing-Bang! Letterman is such a riot.

The Peter Jackson-ized version of “King Kong,” revolves around Carl Denham (played by funny Jack Black), who travels to a far away place called Skull Island in order to finish his incomplete film project. Unfortunately, plans get derailed when ‘Denham & Co’ go under attack by natives and actress, Ann Darrow (played by Naomi Watts), is taken hostage.

Having a thing for blondes - (can you blame him?), Kong rescues his damsel in distress and after the production crew barely escape Skull Island, they chain up the ape and take him along for the ride back to NYC.

And this is where the heartbreaking love story fully blossoms! End result – an awesome movie with all the elements that make a film great! “King Kong” is a definite new addition to our Hollywood Buzz “must see” list.

With Tuesday’s listing of all the nominees for this year’s Golden Globe Awards – “Brokeback Mountain” ranked high once again with 7 nominations including; Best Dramatic Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay (YAH writers!!), Best Score and Best Song. In the ‘Best Picture’ running are; “The Constant Gardener,” “Good Night, and Good Luck,” “A History of Violence” and “Match Point.”

In the drama department, Best Dramatic Actor nominees are; “Cinderella Man’s” Russell Crowe, “Capote’s” Philip Seymour Hoffman (YAH Hoffman!), “Good Night, and Good Luck’s” David Strathairn, “Brokeback Mountain’s” Heath Ledger and “Hustle & Flow’s” Terrence Howard.

Along with my favorite category (drama), there are many other categories with nominees left to be seen at the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, held on January 16, 2006 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
