| CD Review: Michael Buble "Caught" irrepressibly "Feeling Good" |
| by Lisha Simmonds |
| Hit IT! Pop it! Right out of the Ballpark. Michael Buble's "Caught In The Act" is fun and happiness in a little package. |
This CD/DVD combo has a DVD you have to see. The DVD opens with an overture of music from an astonishing number of young, accomplished musicians and the visuals of Art Deco shadows from the gorgeous Wiltern Theater in LA. The musical production by David Foster and Humberto Gatica is flawlessly detailed (no surprise - these guys are audio perfectionists). The lighting takes full advantage of every texture absorbable - including expressions of exuberance Michael Bublé cannot possibly contain.
He starts off with "Feeling Good" and it's obvious he is feeling it all and it is all so good he is about to burst. Charisma can be defined by Michael Bublé just watching him sing. He has this way with a song where he reaches out with his hands, sings and pivots on his foot at the same time pulling you into his song; all his gestures are indicative of how irrepressible he really is as an entertainer. Combine all that charm with all those musicians and arrangements of thoughtful dimension and you cannot lose owning this dvd/cd. Seriously for all the entertainment this is an amazing value.
Michael acknowledges his band with his full attention; sings "Come Fly With Me" with his own perfect, individual rhythm and gets into it with all he has; he goes into the audience, gets mobbed and loves it. His guests, like Laura Pausini for "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine," Josh Groban and Chris Botti (dvd bonus) for "Song for You" are magnanimously talented and gracious.
Michael's humor is adorably infectious and slightly, so endearably naughty and his voice is impeccably polished with so much spontaneous effervescence that it's impossible not to come away from the experience of the DVD without feeling good - feeling really, really good.
The cd sound is also amazingly crystal clear including the enthusiastic, adorable squeals from the audience.
"Fever" is the theme here. Get this - right now because "It's Time" someone like Michael came out with a CD/DVD combo as appointed to detail as this one is. I could not be more effusive about recommending this piece of fun and happiness in a little package. |
